Since then, they've not only picked up multiple awards but have also seen a steady increase in profits year after year. The post-tax profits for 2024 were a staggering four times higher than in 2023, and even more so when compared to the previous two years.
And this is the part most people miss: the secret to their success lies in their commitment to reinvesting in the business. With a €400,000 investment, The Fish Box expanded its operations, adding a food truck, a fresh fish counter, and even solar panels. This expansion allowed them to accommodate more customers, going from 20 to a whopping 100 seats!

The Flannerys received a significant grant of €200,000 under the Brexit Blue Economy Enterprise Development Scheme, recommended by the seafood taskforce and implemented by Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM). Micheál Flannery, a third-generation fisherman and majority shareholder in the business, sums it up perfectly: "We fish from Dingle, land our catch in Dingle, and serve it directly to our customers in Dingle. It's a true sea-to-fork experience."
