If you're a regular reader of All She Cooks, you're probably sensing a pattern here. I have dough on the brain. Danish dough, pizza dough, calzone dough, and dough for bread sticks. One of these days I will make bread dough. But, for now I'm satisfied playing with this pizza dough.

This is a yeast dough recipe, but don't be scared. It's super easy, and I don't say that lightly.

How Pizza Dough is Made:

  • Throw everything in your mixing bowl. Hopefully you have a mixer with a dough hook. If not, you're in for a bit of kneading.
  • Set the mixer on medium speed and let the mixer do it's work.
  • When the dough is in a nice ball (or maybe two... mine does that sometimes), you can turn the mixer off. It'll look something like this:

Moisten a towel with warm water and cover bowl. Let it sit for one hour.

As the dough sits, it will double in size. This recipe makes enough dough for 2 pizzas, 2 calzones, or a bunch of bread sticks. If you want to just make a small pizza, or a personal calzone, go for it. Tear off a chunk of the dough and refrigerate the rest and use within a couple days.

The dough is ready to be rolled, pressed, or stretched into whatever shape you want to make it.

Remember, simple ingredients all thrown in one mixing bowl make this easy pizza dough one to add to your binder of basic recipes. You will use this over and over again, as a base for a variety of meals including pizzas and calzones.

  • Add olive oil and hot tap water.

  • Mix on medium speed in mixer using dough hook (or knead by hand) until ball of dough forms.

    Great (and simple) recipe! If you have a bread machine, you can do the same thing (just put it on the dough setting) and you're golden as well. I know that bread machines are not exactly "in" these days, but I'm loving mine!

    This is simpler than mine. I usually let the yeast sit in the warm water for a while before throwing it all together. I do have a mixer, but I guess I'm old fashion or just love kneading. There's something very Zen about it. 🙂 I'll have to try this. Looks good!

      I can see how it would be Zen... I just don't have the patience! 😉 I guess that's not very Zen of me. Normally, when I'm in the kitchen I'm working on several things at the same time, so being able to throw the ingredients for this dough in the mixer and walk away and let the mixer finish the job is so ideal for me.

    I just made this dough, it's sitting on my counter rising waiting for dinner tonight!! But I was wondering if you have ever froze this dough? Just curious if I could make a few batches and freeze them for use another day. Thanks! -Jen

      Hi Jennifer! I have not tried freezing it, but I keep meaning too. I sometimes double the batch and put half of it in the refrigerator and use it for mini-pizzas or calzones for lunch or snack over the next few days. It refrigerates beautifully. If you decide to freeze some, I'd love to hear how it works out for you.

    Did you use rapid rise yeast or "regular" yeast for this recipe?

      Hi Robyn- I normally use rapid rise, but I've used the regular yeast packets too. Because I let it sit and rise for a good hour, it would work with either.

      Hello Amberley- sorry for the delay in getting back to you on cook time for our Easy Pizza Dough recipe. You'll find that about 17-19 minutes in a 425 degree oven should do the trick for most pizza toppings. You can poke little holes in the crust with a fork and then stick it in the oven for a few minutes prior to adding toppings if you'd like- that will give you a little bit of a crisper pizza dough. Delicious!
