The recent revelations (for Australia) that Chinese #spies operating in non-official (or commercial) cover in Australia and targeting the diaspora, especially dissidents, speak to China's global reach and disregard for the sovereignty of other nations. While the fact that #China conducts espionage in other countries should not come as news, rather, the surprising issue relates to the inability of Australia's immigration screening to identify China's spies or the seeming lack of a robust #counterintelligence and #counterespionage capability to disrupt China's operations.China's espionage activities are not limited to NOCs targeting dissidents, it also engages in cyber, economic, political and scientific espionage. The extent to which non-declared agents of China target and exploit Australia should be at the forefront of counterintelligence measures, and part of this includes public service announcements and training to counter its efforts.https://lnkd.in/gfuJKN8z

The article get's to the point, with "It’s wrong to think of the MSS as China’s KGB or MI6, a single intelligence agency with a spy chief. Espionage is a regular part of Chinese bureaucratic life, embedded in various agencies."..#china #espionage #geopolitics

As representatives of a wide range of civil and religious society, we have come together to express our grave concern at the threat posed to South Africa’s democracy by the General Intelligence Laws Amendment Bill 2023 (GILAB), currently under consideration in the National Assembly. We represent a cross-section of sectors and opinions, but share the view that this Bill will bring an intrusion of state security agencies into our society in a way that will undermine our #democracy, clear the way for continued over-reach by these State agencies and lay the ground for a return to state capture.https://lnkd.in/ghuMCaTU#civilsociety

Control of information- cyber is a huge underestimated area for the national security optic, really only now is the realisation of what is at stake.

For those who are still considering whether or not all that connected technology is worthwhile, looking at a new car, or relying on someone who owns a connected vehicle--I would advise you to give this some thought. Many people avoid foreign technology in their day-to-day lives for fear of their information being sent to companies they don't trust. Take some time to consider who designed your systems of convenience.

"The Albanese government has removed two of Australia’s most senior intelligence bosses from a top security body. ASIO Director General Mike Burgess and ASIS Director General Kerri Hartland have been removed from the National Security Committee of Cabinet. The director generals will be invited on a case-by-case basis but have both been removed as permanent members." (Sky News Australia 22/03/2024)What a tangled web we weave when we first practice to deceive!! However, it's not the spy bosses that are deceiving us at this moment. It's the incompetent Albanese Government and the Victorian Labor Party which seems to be running Australian security. Perhaps it needs to protect the identity of the former Victorian MP recruited by the Chinese who ASIO has threatened to expose for constitutional security reasons? This is the story they don't want you to hear about. It is likely no coincidence that this shameless unprofessional sacking has occurred two days before the visit of the Chinese Foreign Minister. The Australian Foreign Minister's comments on the matter in the Senate this week are appalling and beckon the question as to whether this removal is constitutional? This needs to be investigated. The person selected to replace both these eminent intelligence professionals, is Victorian academic and public servant, Glyn Davis who has no security credentials or intelligence experience. He does however have close China business ties and was closely associated with the State of Victoria's independent agreement with the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) which would have seen significant Chinese business in the Port of Melbourne had it proceeded. Some spy cranes perhaps might have been the order of the day?? Sounds to me like the mystery MP that was recruited by the CCP might have been no less than the former Victorian Premier and Davis's good chum Daniel Andrews who was closely linked to this project which the advent of Wuhan Covid closed down. Have ASIO and ASIS threatened to expose this? Was the Albanese Government trying to sweep it under the carpet as part of the Chinese Foreign Ministers visit and protecting the Victorian trade union election fundraising war chest? Conspiracy theories aside - although this one might be true - it is a most crude and dangerous political meddling that places the nation in jeopardy and is a national disgrace. I wonder what Lord David Cameron the British Foreign Secretary thought about this breach of security during his visit this week, coincidentally on the tail of Wang Yi's visit. It is not a good nor reliable look for AUKUS or the Five Eyes Community. Australia should be called to task by the Five Eyes Governments to explain this highly irregular action and to reverse this likely "illegal", unconstitutional decision immediately. The LNC needs to call for a thorough parliamentary investigation into this breach of national security. The Albanese government needs to correct this immediately or go.

PTS 9/11Total suspicion of Muslims simply because of their faith is a gross violation of the US Constitution and the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights. I am surprised by one thing: How long will idiots from various government agencies of the USA take revenge on Muslims for the crime of a bunch of terrorists on September 11, 2001? Why do the US authorities repeat the crimes of the authorities of China, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Russia, and other countries, massively suspecting all Muslims of various crimes, accusing many of them unreasonably? This is stupid hatred of a group of people just because they belong to a certain group with a certain faith. Don’t forget one thing: By suspecting an innocent person of any crime and systematically persecuting him without specific grounds, you are pushing him to commit a crime. People are different, some have finer nerves than others, and one day they can break loose and rush at their pursuers - and then say: "Now you can blame me. I hit and shot at your scoundrel, who has been pursuing me for years for nothing. You got what you deserved!" Therefore, my advice to you - idiots from various government services, wasting US taxpayers' money on absolutely unnecessary and illegal actions: Do not provoke people to commit a crime!Post Traumatic Syndrome 9/11, (PTS 9/11).I think that many US authorities, especially the CIA, FBI, Department of Homeland Security, DEA, and some others, have proliferated since 9/11 with PTS patients. Therefore, the US Congress should consider examining the mental health of all employees of the above-mentioned US authorities, as well as police officers, and prescribing treatment for all those who show any traces of PTS 9/11. Don't forget to include Muslim psychologists on the PTS 9/11 Commission along with psychologists from Christians, Buddhists, and other faiths. Let everything be fair! It is better to identify patients than to allow the spread of PTS 9/11 to generations of young US citizens - future police officers and the above-mentioned US government agencies.

*BREAKING*: The White House is preparing an #ExecutiveOrder that seeks to prevent foreign adversaries from accessing troves of highly sensitive personal #data about Americans. The draft order focuses on ways that these foreign adversaries are gaining access to Americans’ “highly sensitive” personal data — from genetic information to location — through *LEGAL* means. Back in February of 2021, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence reported that China has collected large health-care data sets from the US and nations around the globe. There is now growing concern that #artificialintelligence can be used to target US persons for espionage or blackmail by, for example, recognizing patterns across multiple unrelated datasets.

Good reminder for auto lenders: adversarial Chinese tech companies like Huawei that are forbidden from selling to the US government and telecoms are big providers of telematics in vehicles. My prediction all along has been: this will be the first security and privacy-based recall in history.
