Lettuce Wrap Recipes That Are So Good, You Won't Even Miss The Bread (1)

While it may be best known for salads, a whole uncut piece of lettuce is also the perfect vessel for a slew of tasty ingredients. So ditch the bread and wrap your favorite proteins in a lighter, greener, and healthier option. With these creative lettuce wrap recipes in your back pocket, like our copycat P.F. Chang's chicken lettuce wraps to Philly cheesesteak lettuce wraps, you'll hardly miss the bread anyways.

First things first: Not all lettuce is built the same. Crispy iceberg is light and refreshing (and we love it for a wedge salad), but we opted more heartier lettuces for these recipes, like romaine and butterhead lettuce. Smoother butterhead lettuce leaves are ideal for wrapping as they're super flexible and wide enough wrap around and keep all the toppings inside. Butterhead lettuce is the key to loading up our peanut-sesame chicken lettuce wraps, caramelized tofu lettuce wraps, and our basil avocado shrimp salad wraps.

Romaine lettuce is our favorite for when we're craving a signature crunch to our wraps, as they have that inner white rib that keeps them sturdy, perfect for loading up for our chicken caesar salad lettuce wraps.

Your favorite sandwich fillings are amazing wrapped in lettuce, too. My personal favorite flavor combo for a lettuce wrap is a classic Cuban sandwich, but feel free to try your favorite chicken salad, or load it up like a Reuben sandwich.
