The side diamonds were from his mother, Princess Diana, and the center stone was personally selected by the Prince. The socially conscious couple chose an ethically mined Botswanan center diamond, as they had travelled Botswana together, and Harry knew of the significant positive impact the diamond trade has upon the region. The three stones were originally set on a classic yellow gold band.

Meghan’s center cushion cut center stone is approximately 3 carats, while the round side stones add around 1.5 carats. After the birth of her son, Archie, Meghan also added a pave diamond band to her ring, bumping the total carat weight up to around 4.75cttw (carat total weight).
