He recognizes her. Takes a selfie with her. Tells her he wrote a screenplay for her and even has it with him. Soon, Janet's bound to the dolly and Walter's shooting his movie right then and there in her house. Of course, Walter is no delivery boy at all. He's a renegade filmmaker doing whatever it takes to get his movie in the can, which just so happens to be the worst movie of all time, Water Under the Fridge. Walter thinks it's only compelling if it's real, so he makes Janet experience the things her character is experiencing for real. There's an onscreen kiss, a love scene, even a death scene, and Janet's gotta do it all... with or without consent. Read More Read Less Watch on Fandango at Home Buy Now

The Movie (2022) | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Michael Talbot-Haynes Film Threat The Movie does have one of the best performances by an actress showing the world what real agony looks like. Rated: 6.5/10 Oct 3, 2022 Full Review The Movie (2022) | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Andy Klein FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) The film is nasty and sad*stic... And I don't see the aesthetic pleasure. Sep 10, 2022 Full Review The Movie (2022) | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Martin Unsworth Starburst Films set around two characters can be hard to pull off, and writer/director Michael Mandell almost succeeds... The big problem is that rather than going on a humorous trajectory, it descends into a rather nasty, uncomfortable direction. Rated: 2/5 Sep 9, 2022 Full Review The Movie (2022) | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Joel Fisher Battle Royale With Cheese The first movie from Michael Mandell comes across as something close to torture p*rn and completely misses the mark if it was meant to have some subtext Sep 9, 2022 Full Review The Movie (2022) | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Roger Moore Movie Nation It is not funny, exciting, scripturally witty, cinematically interesting or acted in any way that threatens at any moment to change all the things it's not. The movie deals with some serious issues and in doing so, gets very uncomfortable. Sep 7, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Luca M Bro I f*cking loved this movie mate. Luchuchius can vouch fr fr no cap. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review sonya b It's hard to put this film into any specific category; not strictly horror, not strictly comedy, and if you go in expecting one or the other, you will likely be disappointed. That is to say--go in without expectations and enjoy the ride, because it is a wild one. Root's performance taps into that innate fear all women are familiar with, and Pistilli is the kind of villain you both hate to love and love to hate. You will laugh, but you probably won't be proud of it, and the psychological tension in between is instant and relentless.Certain scenes can be intensely triggering, so beware on that front. But beyond that, The Movie accomplishes more with an iPhone than most studios do with millions of dollars and top-of-the-line equipment. Frankly, Warner Bros should take notes.Watch The Movie, and keep your smokes of choice on hand--you'll need it after this mindf*ck. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review eileen m October 2, 2022THE MOVIE is compelling in its ability to keep the watcher engaged throughout the film. The details , humor and malevolence intertwine to show us the possibility of what could happen if a disturbed maniac enters ones home with bad intentions. Walters busyness montage-reading the paper, playing Jenga, looking through the drawers is funny, and shows nothing of what's to come, but does show his disregard for Janet- locked away in the dark, with her hands taped and fearing his next move !The acting and writing make the circ*mstances real. Walter goes from naive jokester to menacing creep in nanoseconds. Janet stays on course as a strong, brave woman who never becomes a victim. The writing starts off deceptively light. Underneath there is thoughtfulness and wit. The complicated story of Walter as bullied and a bully."I'm damaged goods, so I damage goods." is a great touch. It goes from funny to not funny as if the viewer walked off a cliff.. The gorgeous house and set dressing make it feel real , too. Even seeing into the full refrigerator makes the fact that someone lives there a part of the story! The last scene and final shot are incredible, beautiful and cruel. The writer seems to understand that women are too often made to feel the brunt of bad behavior by men who are living out weird, and often violent, fantasies. Women working in any field still receive this treatment, but nowhere as much as women in the film industry, where fame, lack of privacy, and exploitation mix to make them vulnerable. I see that message in Janet's story. Women in Hollywood are expendable and a commodity- to be used up and tossed away. That's what this movie is about. THE MOVIE is original, unique, entertaining silly scary and fun! Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Robb Given it's budget, it's a Hugh success to me.
