This is a true case of "if these walls could talk!" Trisha Yearwood's Nashville home has hosted country music royalty, and now, it can be yours for $4.5 million.
Built in 1920, the impeccable five-bedroom, seven-bath home sits on more that four acres in Brentwood, Tennessee, just outside of Music City. Trisha purchased the home in 2000 and went on to host 11 seasons of Trisha's Southern Kitchen inside.
She hosted an incredible roster of her celebrity friends, including Reba McEntire, Kelsea Ballerini, Ashley McBryde, and Lauren Alaina. The Grammy Award winner told us about what makes this house special, and why she decided to sell it.
Trisha bought the home before marrying husband Garth Brooks. The bright, open property brimming with character captured her attention. After living in a dark "kind of eccentric" log cabin, she was ready for a change. She said, "I looked at a lot of houses and everything that was brand-new, felt brand-new with no character, and everything that was really old, felt like it had way more character than I wanted to have to deal with. This house had been built in the 1920s, but the people that I bought it from had renovated and kept the charm of it, but modernized it. It had all the bells and whistles."
While the home was move-in ready, Trisha made a few changes to make it her own. First, she got rid of some dark paint: "In the 1990s, there was a trend here in Nashville to paint your dining room bright red. It was bright red and the ceiling was bright red, and I painted it white immediately. Then there was an office that was a spare bedroom that was like a dark hunter green, and I painted that, but really, I didn't have to do much else to it." That is, until she decided to film her show from the home: Then the kitchen required some production-ready elements, like a stovetop that could face a camera.
"Every time I walk in it I feel like it just feels warm and welcoming and it's a place of serenity and it's probably why I've held on to it for so long," she said.
Still, Trisha realized that it's time for someone else to make the house their home. She said, laughing, "I've been married almost 18 years. I probably don't need to have a backup home. It's been hard to think about parting with it, but it's time. We shoot the show here, but someone should live in this house and love it all the time."
What does this change mean for the future of Trisha's Southern Kitchen? Trisha explained that she has a plan for new episodes at her home with Garth. She said, "We're almost finished building a new structure. I finally got smart. All of my heroes have built kitchens on their property to shoot in. Ree Drummond has a kitchen she shoots in, Ina Garten has a kitchen she shoots, and I decided to do that. Garth had been trying to talk me into this for several years about building a little structure on our place. Once it's done, we'll start shooting in the new Tricia's kitchen and it will be about a 60-second commute for me."
